The company was founded in 2006 by Stelios Houtas and George Mardas and operates in privately owned premises of 8.000 m2 based in Ormylia.
It is the largest area in Greece where the variety of the olive tree of Halkidiki is cultivated, thus ensuring the direct supply of excellent quality product directly from the farmers producers.
With the Integrated Production Management System, the company has dynamically entered the sector of processing, standardization and marketing, resulting in the excellent quality of the edible olives of Halkidiki. Athos Olive has a large capacity to process several tons without quality compromise . The processing process is always carried out in ways friendly to the environment.
For the production process, Athos Olive has modern privately owned facilities of 8,000m2 in the area of Ormylia, Halkidiki, where all the processes of sorting, processing, preparation, packaging and standardization of the edible olive fruits are carried out under the strictest safety and quality standards.
Athos Olive has a Certificate of Conformity BRC.
It has been cultivated forc enturies ensuring proper nutrition and good health. The bond of olive with Chalkidiki began in the Hellenistic and Roman times.
The olive cultivation in Halkidiki today has an area of 310,000 hectares with 5 million olive trees. This means 1/3 of the cultivated area of the prefecture.
The Green Halkidiki Olives come exclusively from the variety “Halkidiki”. They are characterised by a large fruit size with a high ratio of flesh to stone, a bright greenish-yellow colour, a delicate fruity aroma and a slightly spicy taste.
They have a special way of preparation, according to the sales (whole, pitted, stuffed and crushed) and is the product of PDO since 2012.
This blessed tree, loves the mild Mediterranean climate, has been cultivated in Greece since the 2nd millennium BC and has been associated with their everyday lives and the Orthodox Christian religion.
The olive tree has always been a symbol of peace and well being, and that is why the Olympic champions were crowned with an olive wreath.
CHalkidiki, although it is famous for its sun and beaches, is a region with a high forest cover, has a developed agriculture with large areas of olive groves due to the dry climate, unique in Northern Greece, produces excellent olives and olive oil.
